  	Dave Wetmore Dawn, This is the Wetmore line back to the sisters Eliza and Mary Meacham. My dad's parents were Elton E. Wetmore and Olive Jack (maiden name) Wetmore. Grandpa Elton's parents were William Riley Wetmore and Emily Keeler Wetmore. The Wetmore and Keeler families were deeply entrenched with each other's lives. William Riley and Emily were one of three Wetmore siblings and three Keeler siblings that married. Double and triple cousins abounded. Grandma Emily's parents were John Keeler and Mary E. Meacham, Eliza's sister. Dave Wetmore Dawn, My great grandma Emily Keeler Wetmore was Ernest Belmont Keeler's sister! That would make Ernest and Elizabeth Abigail "Abbie" Meacham, Eliza's daughter, first cousins. Dave Wetmore Dawn, The 1920 Hebron Township census I have been studying does not show any Metzgers but the Mattison family is listed. It lists Arthur E. Mattison, householder; Dawn L. , wife; Thelma W. 15 years old daughter; K. Leona 11 years old daughter; and Jefferson W. , 70 years old father (widower). Where did they live? I would love it if this census report had addresses. The end of this report lists Don Stearns as the "enumerator". I guess that means Don was the census taker. George Finster Dave Wetmore; there is a Lillian Wetmore Class 0f 1939 and a Kenneth Wetmore Class of 1944 in the Port Allegany Tiger Lily year books. Dave Wetmore Kenneth is my dad and Lillian is my aunt. They all grew up around the Port Allegany area. My dad was born at Sartwell Creek and grew up mostly at Cady Hollow out past the Village of Wrights outside Port. My dad was the hardest working man I have ever known. For years he got up at 5 AM and milked the cows. Then he went off to an 8 hour shift at the Tannery. Then he came home and milked the cows again, usually not finishing until around 9 PM. During his 2 week vacation from the Tannery we made hay. We used to say that we were tied to cow's tails. About a couple of times a year we took a weekend and went to Washington DC to see my grandparents. Dad could usually get Harry Setzer to do the milking on those weekends. Otherwise, no vacations. When it comes to being a father, I had the best teacher ever. Aunt Lillian is still living at 93 years old and lives about 1-2 miles from my folks.

Merrick was married to my 3rd great aunt, Sally Weimer, so not a direct ancestor. There is a strength of character in that newspaper photo of him. I love the bits about George being a baker in Napoleon's army (I have also worked as a baker)- and about the family almost being sold into slavery on their way to the U.S. I will try to poke around what I have to see if I can locate anything of interest to you. Oh- and another sibling of Sally also married a Jackson- Merrick's brother William Victor, who had the rickets as a child, and developed a hunchback. After the Civil War- he went out west as a gambler. I have his six gun and holster. So be warned, we have quite a few characters in this part of the family tree. I love the bits about George being a baker in Napoleon's army (I have also worked as a baker)- and about the family almost being sold into slavery on their way to the U.S. I will try to poke around what I have to see if I can locate anything of interest to you. Oh- and another sibling of Sally also married a Jackson- Merrick's brother William Victor, who had the rickets as a child, and developed a hunchback.
