Hi,
My name is David L. Gardiner and I thought you might want to know that my family has a DNA match with C. Wetzel (your daughter, I believe) Our Most Recent Common Ancestors are (1) Isaac & Charlotte (Hathaway) Barrows [my 4th great grandparents] & (2) Belgium/Bell & Polly (Purchase) York [my 4th great grandparents] ; That would make us 5th cousins, 1x removed. I'm not sure, at this point, which pair of ancestors passed down their DNA to my family and yours.
Your John Burrous/Barrows (1811-1881) is the son of Isaac & Charlotte (Hathway) Barrows. And, his wife, your Sally Ann York, is the daughter of Belgium/Bell & Polly (Purchase) York.
14.1 centimorgans shared across 1 DNA segment with Thelma Ruth Harris-Gardiner (mom)
14.0 centimorgans shared across 1 DNA segment with David Lee Gardiner (me)
8.0 centimorgans shared across 1 DNA segment with Tessa Mae Shove (neice)
Also, I sent you an invite so you can have direct access to my tree and research. . If you do not received it, via EMail link, just provide me with your EMail address and I can use that for the "invite."
Unfortunately, Family Tree Maker--the program I mainly use--is having trouble syncing with Ancestry so you can't see my most recent updated changes, including your particular branch and connection to me. However, as soon as their 2017 new release comes out, I'll be able to update my tree.
By the way, do you mind if I post your particular family branch with my tree, as well as, utilize any of your media files-including any family photo’s-on ancestry? As some relatives have requested, I have kept all living people private. However, if you’re interested, you can identify me as the son of Gerald Lewis Gardiner (1935-1988).
Actually, I could use your help. If you upload your raw DNA data to two other websites [GedMatch.com and Family Tree DNA] I could better research our mutual ancestors and genetically confirm our paper trail…and possibly eliminate some roadblocks that we all experience. Both sites are great! You will find more DNA matches--not found at Ancestry.com-and, also you will be able to visibly see where exactly, and on which chromosome, the actual DNA match occurs.
DETAILS, if interested: Basically, our ancestors have passed down part of their DNA to us so I have been using genetics (DNA) to confirm our Ancestors paper trails: Such methods as Chromosome Mapping, Genetic Triangulation, and SNP Phasing. Once I confirm a DNA match, I compare our individual paper trails to ascertain our assumed Most Recent Common Ancestor(s) [MRCA, ie, the closest ancestors that we share in common]. Once I have several different confirmed DNA matches--going to the same ancestor-I know my personal genealogical paper trial to that ancestor is genetically confirmed (I use a “DNA Verified” media icon to identify my genetically confirmed ancestors). Hopefully, in time, I can discover the various chromosome patterns for each of my different family surnames so it will further help in locating other Most Recent Common Ancestors [Segment Triangulation].
By the way, if you find any errors that I have posted in your particular family branch, please let me know so I can correct it (thanks).
Have a great day,
David L. Gardiner

Hi David! and thank you so much for writing!!
Yes, Christy is my daughter. I've also sponsored her two brothers on ancestryDNA as well as on FTDNA, and her two sons Connor and Ryan Kiely on the latter... and Christy's husband, Michael Kiely.
But your match is with her mother's line. Barbara Ellen Mosch's grandmother Mable Burrous married Otto Carl Mosch 24 August 1910, but that lineage ends in my research with John, so thank you for the extension to the line.
I do not mind if you use any information I have out there, in fact I'd be glad as we both contribute to the general database.
I've uploaded my own raw data to GedMatch but not Christy's so I'll look into that.
I have not seen an invitation to your tree but I (we)'d be thrilled to see it. My email address is wetzupdoc@me.com and Christy's is christy.e.kiely@gmail.com. I will be seeing her early tomorrow morning at the airport RIC, as we're all flying out to Yellowstone National Park for a family week. She and her husband are very busy attorney's who just moved into a new home, but here's a chance to catch her breath and look at some very interesting ancestry. My kids haven't caught the bug yet, but I think the exposure will eventually 'take'.
There is a FaceBook Group in which you might be interested, Mosch-Kortz Family Descendants; it is a public group. A LOT of family information is shared on Mosch ancestry, more from the 'family' side but it's been a treasure trove of info and photos.
BTW, are you by any chance related to Gardners in Potter County, PA? [They may have lost the 'i' along the way.] Paul Gardner is very involved in the Mosch group, as well as a few others. He is my ex-wife's 3rd cousin through his mother's side, McElroy, daughter of Mosch. His father's name was Lawrence Lynn Gardner, 1917-2001.
Ditto on helping with errors, I appreciate the help. Accuracy is the important thing, and I promise to do the same.
Thanks again for contacting us!

PS, There are some errors in my posted trees. I've had a very frustrating time with FTM, crashes, etc. and I don't think anyone can update their on-line trees until FTM2017 is finally released. Must be a lot more complicated than MacKiev figured, since they'd announced a release date of 'end of March' this year. So I've abbreviated my trees at home, working on branches and I have one for mainly DNA-related info. So much to update, but I'm glad to hear that we are consistent back to John and, with your help, one step further to Isaac and Charlotte.
What does the '/' mean in 'Belgium/Bell'?
