Golden Anniversary
A family dinner, Saturday, Aug. 19, marked the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd O. Chilson, Sr., Coudersport. The 6:30 p.m. dinner was served by women of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at the church.
An open house reception, attended by 100 persons, was held from 7:30 until 10:00 p.m. at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Randall F. Raup, 108 North East Street.
A five-tiered cake, baked by Mrs. Flora Russell of Port Allegany, and decorated by their daughter, Mrs. Stanley Mayfield of New Castle, centered the refreshment table. Thomas Raup, a grandson, presided at the punch bowl and Joan Russell, a granddaughter, was in charge of the guest book. Devonna Krest poured coffee and tea.
Lloyd O. Chilson Sr. and the former Mary Bradish were married August 19, 1922 in the Methodist Parsonage, Coudersport, by the Rev. J. B. Harry. Their attendants were the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Maynard.
They are the parents of six children,

- Lloyd O. Childson Jr., Buffalo, N.Y,;
- Mrs. Randall F. (Jo) Raup, Coudersport;
- MSgt. Donald W. Chilson, Colorado Springs, Colo.,
- Mrs. John (Jeep) Russell, Coudersport; and
- the late Mrs. Reta Rink.
They have 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Chilson was employed for 17 years by the Borough of Coudersport, most of that time as Street Commissioner. He was later employed by the Pa. Dept. of Highways until a serious accident forced his retirement eight years ago. Mrs. Chilson enjoys growing flowers and works part-time at the City News. The couple enjoy traveling and recently returned from a month's trip to Colorado Springs, Colo.
Out of town guests included
- their grandaughter Mrs. Cheryl (Rink) Troutman and children Ernie Jr., and Lisa from Olivehurst, Calif.; and
- Joseph Rink, Jr., San Jose, Calif.
Other guests came from Bradford, Mansfield, Galeton, Port Allegany, New Castle, Gold, Howard, Emporium, Coudersport, Pa., Wellsville, Buffalo, and Fairport, N.Y. and Colorado Springs and Denver, Colo.

What is happening in our Coudersport Chamber of Commerce? A few weeks ago, a small group of concerned citizens met with several officers or members of the local Chamber of Commerce to find out what has happened to this organization. Those who have held the reins for many years have grown weary of the job, and have been waiting for the younger or newer people to put their talents and energies to getting our Chamber of Commerce back into its logical position of leadership and importance in Coudersport.
WHY BOTHER? Well, for one thing, a community without an active Chamber of
