Jeannette Buck They were depression era folks. And knew how to make something wonderful out of almost nothing. Pancakes, with eggs from our own chickens, bacon if we were lucky, and our own maple syrup. Just didn't get any better than that. Unless we had just butchered a pig and had pork chops with them. Well, then, there was left over chicken gravy on pancakes-- I could go on and on and on--- :)

Bev Kehs I know! I meant I considered them depression era folks, not just country folk... I remembered the other meals too, but the hot apple pie with milk was my favorite. It is difficult to introduce someone who didn't grow up with it to this dish as the apples and the milk do tend to curdle, but it does taste so good, regardless of how it looks!
