Marion E. Mackey, 88, of Frankfort, Ind., and formerly of Slippery Rock, Worth Township, passed away Thursday at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, Ind., following a brief illness.
Born in Middletown, N.Y., on Dec. 15, 1923, she was the daughter of Mack Bud Morley and Eugertha Ruth Everitt Morley.
She was first married to Earl A. Hollinger from 1946 until 1968. She then married George Ralph Mackey on June 3, 1972, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
She was an elementary school music teacher, having retired in 1986 from the Slippery Rock School District. Before that, Marion had taught one year in 1949 at the Muddy Creek-Portersville School.
She directed the choir at the West Liberty United Methodist Church from 1952 to 2007.
Marion spent her retirement leading the Tamarack Lake Cloggers and giving line dancing lessons at her home and in senior centers.
In 2008, she moved to Wesley Manor in Frankfort, Ind., where she directed the chapel choir, sang with the "Singing Saints" and played ukulele with the "String-A-Longs."
Survivors include
two daughters,
- Martha Jean (Hollinger) Johnson and her husband, the Rev. Stephen, of Burlington, Ind., and
- Marian Rose Hollinger of Slippery Rock;
- a sister, Maude Morley of Ulysses, Pa.;
two brothers,
- Franklin P. Morley of Frankfort, Ind., and
- Mack B. Morley, Jr. of Glen Spey, N.Y.;
- a grandson, Jeffery Anderson; and
two great-grandsons,
