In 1862, William and Hannah Knapp moved from Potter County, Pennsylvania to Wisconsin. After a few months, the family moved to Rochester, Minnesota. By fall, 1870, the family relocated to Nemaha, Nebraska, eventually settling on a farm near Stella, where William also operated a livery stable. Hannah and William Knapp had 10 children: Sally Ann (b. 1846), Miles W. (b. 1847), Eli (b. 1849), Florence (b. 1852), Mollie (b. 1854)Rachel M. Obituary
Charles Delbert Knapp Dies at Home Here Big Timber, Montana Charles Delbert Knapp, 78, passed away at his home on First Avenue East at 8:30 a. m. Sunday. Although he had been in failing health for several years, his sudden death was a shock to family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted from the Lowry chapel this afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. H. S. Tool, of the Evangelical United Brethren church officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View. Besides his widow Florence McNeil Knapp, he is survived by four sons, Fred Knapp of Filer, Idaho, B. B. Knapp of Big Timber, Edgar Knapp of Melstone, Frank Knapp of Shelby; two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Sherod of Barber and Mrs. H. A. Spaller of Regina, and 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Mr. Knapp had been engaged in farming most of his life coming to Montana from Nebraska shortly before World War I. The family had resided on Lower Deer creek for two years and the Gibson area for a year before he retired from active work about 10 years ago and moved to Big Timber.
