C of the 13th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Calvary during the Civil War (and contracted a disease which finally caused his death), died 8/31/1897 in Newton, Iowa, married Charlotte E. Palmer 5/10/1844. They came to Iowa in March 1868 and settled on a farm near Metz. In 1881 they left the farm and moved to Newton. Charlotte was born 1/5/1827 in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, died 10/1/1898 in Newton, Iowa. Her parents were John Palmer and Rachel Stevens.
