Hi! I wanted to share a fascinating genealogy experience I just had, actually, I'm in the middle of it. Jeannette Buck may have mentioned it. I want to send you a couple paragraphs which summarize it.
Here is what I sent around to my mom’s closest relatives on FaceBook; I’ve only actually discussed it with Uncle John (Howard) Spring, and that just yesterday :o I recently expanded my DNA testing to include mt and got the following response. Do any of you recall a situation in which a baby would have been born out of wedlock in 1905 in NYC and abandoned at boarding home in Haarlem? It would be on my mother's side of the family and she is a very strong match!! Fascinating! [Please share with others, if I've missed someone who might know or who would be interested.]Dear Dr. Wetzel, I received word from Family Tree DNA that there is a match between my mother and yourself. We are actually attempting to find information regarding my mother's mother who was adopted in NYC in 1905.We have no record of her biological family as she was a foundling. Obviously, my grandmother has passed away but we continue the search for a link to her heritage. Please let me know if you can shed any light on our situation. My maternal grandmother was a foundling in New York's Harlem area. She was found in the vestibule of a Boarding Home on November 11, 1905 by a Mr. Peter Hulsa (one of the renters). I believe this area of New York was quite nice at this time. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital and named Adelaide Martin. She was placed in several foster homes until being adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Reece of Mount Carmel Pennsylvania. Many thanks,

I can't stop thinking about this news. I can't believe that Mom wouldn't have found out about this. We talked a lot the year she died about everything in families.

The more I think about it, the parents have to be Fred/Etta. The mtDNA from the male is destroyed at conception, that's why the mtDNA is passed down the female (mother) line. I'm trying to fill in the rest of my Hall line, I was shocked at how many holes I still have in my tree... and I just found today a conflict at Philo Shelton Hall- ...

I haven't been working on geneology for some time. After i spent the year with Mom, I have had a shoulder replacement , thumb joint replacement and now a back operation so haven't had much time to spend with it. I also babysit for my 2 greatgrandchildren who are 3 and 4.

Franklin's kids? I moved down to Columbia 4 yrs ago, but got married last July, my wife lives/teaches in State College, so that's where I am right now. Buying a house in Richmond, too, which is where daughter Christy and her two boys are, 1 and 4.
