Coudersport Loses To St. Marys, 12-6, In Night Game
Dutchmen Go On to Cop League Title By Beating Otto Twp, 28-9, In Postponed Game Falcons in Second Place.
Coudersport High School dropped to second place in Allegheny Mountain Football League standings as result of Friday night's loss to St, Marys. The Dutchmen beat the Falcons, 12-6, before about 600 shivering fans.
With a record of three victories and one tie in league competition, St. Marys defeated Otto Township, 28-9, Tuesday in a postponed game take undisputed title to the league championship. The Falcons, defending champions, finished second with a season's record of four wins against one loss in league play.
Port Allegany, Smethport, Otto and Sheffield finished in that order. Port Allegany drubbed Smethport, 20-12, Saturday to clinch third place.
Their first loss In five games, the Falcons succumbed to "fumbleitis" Friday night at St. Marys. Trailing by six points, the Falcons lost the ball twice in the final, period as a result of fumbles once on the 7 and again on the 12.
The Dutchmen's Stan Horvatin climaxed a 60-yard march in the opening period as he scored from the 1-yard stripe on the snow-covered field.
Blocking a Coudersport kick in the third, St. Marys went on to score. Weisner, the Dutchmens fullback, went over from the 2.
The Falcons took the kick-off and went 66 yards for a touchdown, Predmore crossing the goal line af ter a gallop of 36 yards.

A double-ring ceremony, performed by candlelight in the sanctuary of Park Methodist Church Saturday evening, united in marriage Miss Patricia L. Hamilton and Joseph E. Snyder, both of Coudersport.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry K. Hamilton and her husband is the son of Mrs. Oscar Snyder and the late Mr. Snyder. The Rev. LaRue Bender, pastor of the church, officiated at an altar decorated with white gladioli and asters. Miss Lucille Clark, organist, played traditional wedding music and accompanied Keith Kelligan who sang the Wedding Prayer.
Entering the sanctuary on the arm of her brother, William, the bride wore a floor-length gown which featured a hooped skirt, lone lace sleeves and a fitted bodice. Her veil fell from a crown headpiece and she carried a white floral arrangement.
Her attendants were Linda Potter, maid of honor and Mary Matzinger, Phyllis Jaros and Gail and Carole Hamilton. Their identical gowns were pink, fashioned with floor-length overskirts. empire waistlines and short sleeves. They carried bouquets of white asters, tipped with blue.
Allen Snyder served as his brother's best man and ushers were Gary, Don and Milton Snyder, brothers of the bridegroom, and David Matzinger.
Marie Lyon, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and ringbearer was Jimmy Snyder, a nephew of the bridegroom.
The bride's mother wore a cream-colored two-piece dress with brown accessories and a red rose corsage. Mrs. Snyder wore a navy blue dress with a pink rose corsage.
A reception at Potato City Inn was held following the ceremony for approximately 170 relatives and. friends.
The couple left on a wedding trip to Washington, Florida and other points of interest before returning to Fort McClellan, Ala., where the bridegroom Is stationed. He expects to be released from the army in late November, when they plan to make their home In Coudersport.
The bride, a 1964 graduate of Coudersport Area High School, has worked at Clark. Bros.. Olean. Her husband was graduated here in 1959 and attended Lock Haven State College. Before joining the army, he was employed at Pepper's Food Market.
Pre-nuptial parties were held last month by the bride's friends at Old Hickory, Coudersport, the Castle In Olean.

Age 71, of Owosso, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 in Corunna.
Gary was a design construction engineer for seventeen years with Consumer's Power Company. He had also worked on the Salt River Project in Arizona for thirteen years, as well as for the Detroit Edison Electric Company.
Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Snyder officiating. Burial will take place at St. Johns Cemetery.
Gary was born on February 18, 1938 in St. Johns, the son of Robert K. and Maxine (Whitaker) Snyder. He graduated from Owosso High School and later Lansing Community College. He served in the United States Navy for three years.
On September 10, 1960 he married Kay Pryor in Owosso. They were married for forty-three years before her death in 2003. He always enjoyed working and loved to travel.
Survivors include his three daughters,
Stacey M. Newman of Glendale, AZ,
Wendy S. and Melinda K. Snyder, both of Phoenix, AZ;
grandson, Dustin R. (Beth) Newman, currently serving in the United States Marine Corp.; great-granddaughter, Lilly; three sisters, Joyce (Ambrose) Powell of Laingsburg, Sherry (Robert) Pettys of Lake Wales, FL, and Barbara (Charles) Langhurst of Williamston; three brothers, Kendrick (Sandra) Snyder of Grand Rapids, Raymond (Angie) Snyder of Corunna and Roger Snyder of Owosso; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kay; and a brother, Jack Snyder.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Memorial Healthcare Hospice.
