Thelma Marie Baker Quimby, 83, of Coudersport, died Thursday (May 4, 2006) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born on Dec. 29, 1922 in Coudersport she was the daughter of Simeon I. and Wanda Kimball Baker. On April 7, 1941 she married R. Francis Quimby who survives.
Mrs. Quimby owned and operated Thelma's Beauty Salon in Coudersport for 41 years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #192 for 53 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Q. (Donald) Snay of Greenwood, DE; two sons, Roger F. (Colleen) Quimby of Yorba Linda, CA, and Bruce D. (Mary) Quimby of Lincoln University; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence L. “Bud” (Frieda) Baker and Charles F. “Fred” (Beverly) Baker.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John S. Baker, and two sisters, Claudia B. Swartwout and Vera B. Kernahan.
Friends were received at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport on Sunday (May 7, 2006) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at which time funeral services were held with Reverend Dennis M. Adams, pastor of the Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Sweden Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program, c/o Potter County Area Agency on Aging, P.O. Box 241, Roulette, PA 16746 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
