Ralph W. Baker, 83, of Oakwood Dr., Port Allegany, PA
PORT ALLEGANY, PA- Ralph W. Baker, 83, of Oakwood Dr., passed away Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2010) in the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, NY.
Born February 19, 1927, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, PA,
he was a son of I. Ralph and Dora Irwin Baker.
On Oct. 15, 1955, in Bradford, PA, he married Phyllis A. Anderson, who survives.
Mr. Baker first worked for Hertz Rental Car Co. at the Bradford Airport, later with Pierce Glass Co. of Port Allegany, and also was self-employed and owner of Bakers Body Shop, Port Allegany.
He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Air Force.
He was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport, Allegany Valley Regional Antique Car Club, and VFW Post 6391, Port Allegany.
Surviving are two sons,
- Ted A. (Karen) Baker of Olean, NY, and
- Steve R. Baker of Birmingham, AL;
four daughters,
- Suzie M. Baker of Blythewood, SC,
- Chris A. (Dick) Weimer and
- Theresa A. Bicek both of Roulette,
- Barbara J. (Mike) Lindsey of Port Allegany;
6 grandchildren, and
3 great-grandchildren;
a brother, Paul E. Baker and a
sister Freda O'Neil both of Oil City, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
and a brother, Arthur Baker.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 2010) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Campbell, pastor of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to St. Eulalia Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
