  	Hall Family Reunion, July 10, 1921, Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York ALLEGANY CITIZEN - Saturday Morning, July 10, 1921 The 10th annual reunion of the PHILO SHELTON HALL descendants was held with Mr. and Mrs. HERBERT SPRING on the Four Mile on July 4th. Tables were spread on the great roomy lawn which was decorated with large American flags and bunting. The tables were decorated with small flags, sweet peas and roses. The anniversay cake was a large white one decorated with small silk flags. At 12:30 a bountiful dinner was served to 35 members of the family and 20 guests after which the president Mrs. EUNICE CARTER sounded the gavel and the business meeting was called to order. Eight biths, one death and three marriages were reported. The election of officers resulted in Mrs. IRENE ANDERSON being the president, HULDA WHEELER treas.; and RUTH CONRAD was re-elected secretary. T.B. HALL attended the the Hall reuinon last summer in Nebraska ad was prepared to give us a very interesting report. The afternoon was spent in ball games and races. Swings and seesaws in the orchard furnished sport for the small ones. The out of town relatives and guest were Mrs. HATTIE HARRIS and daughter DELTHA of Forestville, NY, Mrs. E. FRANK SMITH, son and daughter of Rockchester; Mrs. J. FITZPAtrick of Avon, NY, and ANDREW SNYDER of Couderport, PA.   	A F A M I L Y F O R I S A B E L L A H A L L We first became interested in our family history in the early 1980s. The folk* that we should have questioned were gone. We knew that my paternal grandmother B a m s was Harriet McGee or Magee, born 25 Sept 1874 in Allegany, Cattaraugus County, NY. We learned that her parents separated and she was brought up in Boyne Falls, Charlevoix County, Michigan by her father, Emerald A. Mage© and step-mother, Emerald's second wife, Clara Day. We knew Hattie had a sister Eva Magee who was raised (supposedly adopted) by Mrs. Ja n e Schoonover in the finest house in Forestville, Chautauqua County, New York. Sometime before the NY State census of 1892, Hattie determined that step-daughter-life in Michigan was unbearable and she ran off to Forestville to visit her sister Eva for what was to become a long visit. In Forestville Hattie and Eva met the Barris brothers, Charles and Laverne. On J u n e 21,1893 Charles Barns and Hattie Magee were married.   Leon E. French Jr. Deltha's husband? -jcw20161101- cf. Deltha (Harris) French below KITTERY, Maine - Leon Earle French Jr., 90, of Love Lane, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at his home. Leon was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Kittery. A lifelong resident, he attended local schools, graduating from R.W. Traip Academy in 1938. He furthered his education, graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 1942, and served as a registered professional engineer his entire career. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Arthur H. WernerShirley A. FowlerAndrew J. Leon had a keen interest in Kittery civic affairs, having served as chairman of the Board of Selectman, several school needs studies, the first new Shapleigh School building Committee, member and chairman for several years of the Park Commission and member of the Economic Development Commission. He also served on the Town Government Study Committee, which recommended the change from Selectman to Town Manager form of government. Leon was a life member of Phi Mu Delta fraternity, honorary life member and past president of the National Association of Naval Technical Supervisors, and a member of NARFE as well as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Following retirement, he enjoyed many winters in Destin, Fla., where many lifelong friends were made. He is survived by his children, son Richard and Joan French of Augusta, Maine, son Brian and Linda French of Barrington, N.H., daughter Catherine and John McWilliams of Kittery, and son Kevin and Beth French of Hampton, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Leon was predeceased by his loving wife, Deltha (Harris) French, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. SERVICES: Friends may visit with Leon's family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, where a Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Second Christian Congregational United Church of Christ on Government Street in Kittery. However I do not know if he had a middle name. However, his father, Philomon (Philo) Hall had Shelton as a middle name. It is thought that it may have been a reference to a popular minister back in the east. Here is the family information on Philo Shelton Hall. There were two Hall Families in Allegany in the late 1800's.
