As an active member, she served in ministries at Liberty Bible Church (LBC) in Chesterton, IN, such as the Women’s Missionary Society, writing to missionaries, preparing funeral luncheons, and her work as the LBC historian. She invested in friendships through knitters club, biking, crafting cards, and sharing meals around her table. GURNEE, Ill. - Dr. Bradford Hall Spring, 85, peacefully died after a long illness of Parkinson's Disease, on Nov. 9, 2020, at Bickford Assisted Living in Gurnee, with his wife by his side.

Son of Alvah and Alice Spring of Allegany, N.Y., Brad was born on Dec. 15, 1934, in Syracuse, N.Y.

He attended Allegany High School and Georgia Military Academy, and received his bachelor of arts ('57) and master's of arts ('61) from Cornell University. Brad went on to teach at Clarkson College, and then attended the University of Wisconsin, and received his Ph.D. ('73).

He served his country in the Army Reserves. Dr. Spring taught civil engineering at Valparaiso University from 1970 – 2006.

He and his wife attended and served in ministry at Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton. He invested in relationships with his family, friends, students, colleagues, neighbors, and community. He lived with integrity, listened attentively, mentored wisely, and encouraged lovingly.

GURNEE, IL-Marilyn Marks Spring, 85, peacefully died after a short illness of Alzheimer’s Disease and Congestive Heart Failure, on Nov. 20, 2020, at Bickford Assisted Living in Gurnee, IL. Daughter of Glenn Ray Marks and Mary Bond Marks of Ithaca, NY, Marilyn was born on October 8, 1935, in Covert, NY. She attended Ithaca High School and received her bachelor of arts from Nyack College (‘57). Marilyn spent her professional career at Costas Foods and in the Valparaiso University Chemistry Dept. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bradford Hall Spring. The two celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past October. As an active member, she served in ministries at Liberty Bible Church (LBC) in Chesterton, IN, such as the Women’s Missionary Society, writing to missionaries, preparing funeral luncheons, and her work as the LBC historian. She invested in friendships through knitters club, biking, crafting cards, and sharing meals around her table.
She is survived by her two children:
- Karen (Dan) Kissinger and
- David (Patrice) Spring;
five grandchildren:
- David, Sarah, Mary, Samantha, and Jana;
and seven great-grandchildren,
- Andrew, Joshua, Matthew, Milly, Wendell, Alice and Ben.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial Gifts can be given directly to LBC at findliberty.net.

I received earlier this year from Bumper..., uh, John & MaryAnn Crumrine Spring, these photos, comprised mainly of a letter from Herb & Ruth with a picture of Aunt Alice & Uncle 'Dud' family in 1962.
Herb & Ruth had also included the next photo of grgrandma SPRING with the Nicosia and John Spring kids, taken August 1958, probably at the SPRING reunion, as they mention on the photo back.
The referenced invitation to the 60th anniversary reunion, front and back, is in the last two pics.

Even though we can't go, I long to be there! Ruth's no where near able & I can't be away that long with her alone. My driving alone that far is ify also.
You put so much into the reunion! This one is so special. I'd love to see evberyone - especially you, Betty & Dorothy- my cousins!

Gram was the oldest founding member of the family reunion & some of the "great grandchildren" will be there for the 60th!

GURNEE, Ill. - Dr. Bradford Hall Spring, 85, peacefully died after a long illness of Parkinson's Disease, on Nov. 9, 2020, at Bickford Assisted Living in Gurnee, with his wife by his side.

Son of Alvah and Alice Spring of Allegany, N.Y., Brad was born on Dec. 15, 1934, in Syracuse, N.Y.

He attended Allegany High School and Georgia Military Academy, and received his bachelor of arts ('57) and master's of arts ('61) from Cornell University. Brad went on to teach at Clarkson College, and then attended the University of Wisconsin, and received his Ph.D. ('73).

He served his country in the Army Reserves. Dr. Spring taught civil engineering at Valparaiso University from 1970 – 2006.

He and his wife attended and served in ministry at Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton. He invested in relationships with his family, friends, students, colleagues, neighbors, and community. He lived with integrity, listened attentively, mentored wisely, and encouraged lovingly.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Marks Spring from Ithaca, N.Y. The two celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past October. Survivors also include his two children, Karen (Dan) Kissinger and David (Patrice) Spring; five grandchildren, David, Sarah, Mary, Samantha and Jana; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua, Matthew, Milly, Wendell, Alice and Ben; and his brother, Rev. Herbert Spring.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Gifts can be given directly to Rebuilding Together at rebuildingtogether.org or to Valparaiso University at valpo.edu/forevervalpo.
