Rayburn Weimer Obituary
ROULETTE - Rayburn A. "Jaybird" Weimer, 85, of West Branch Fishing Creek Road, passed away Monday (July 23, 2012) in his home with his family by his side.
Born March 8, 1927, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Rayburn A. and Marguerite Craw Weimer. On Feb. 9, 1951, in Port Allegany, he married Esther M. Manning, who survives.
He had been a self-employed farmer and logger and had worked construction as a heavy equipment operator, having worked on the Kinzua Dam project. He also worked several years for the Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany.
Mr. Weimer was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy and the Seabees battalion, San Francisco, Calif.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville.
Mr. Weimer was a member of the VFW Post #6398 and American Legion Post #258, both in Port Allegany. He was a member of the Ohio and American National Bottle Association and the Buffalo Bottle Club. He was an avid bottle hunter and outdoorsman. He was awarded the Grand Slam of North American Big Horn Sheep.
Surviving besides his wife, Esther, are
three sons,
Russell C. (Sandy) Weimer of Allen, Texas,
Joseph L. (Rhoda) Weimer of Roulette and
Ray O. (Lisa) Weimer of Ulysses;
two daughters,
Cheryl R. (Denis) Brown of Eldred and
Linda M. Weimer of Roulette;
13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
a daughter, Ruth E. Weimer;
a great-granddaughter, Abbie J. Oliver; and
a brother, George Weimer.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. LaVerne Howard, pastor, the Rev. H.D. Youngblood Jr. and the Rev. Thomas Shatto co-officiating.
Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette. A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard immediately following the funeral service.
Memorials can be made to the Austin, Port Allegany or Potter County historical societies.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.

Mr. and Mrs. John Howland and family of Dundee, N. Y., were recent guests of Mrs. Lena Howland.
Capt. and Mrs. Frederick Howland and three children of Kustis, Va spent a few days at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lena Howland. They left last Thursday morning for their home.

Mrs. Leroy Hammond and young son, Walter, of Ridgway visited her mother, Mrs. Joseph Easton, last week.
Miss Rose Hagerman and Joe Miller of Pittsburgh were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon Leet recently.
Mrs. Marvin St. Clair of Buffalo spent several days last week at the home of her sister and family, Mrs. Ed Fisher.
Little Henry Fuller, four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fuller, underwent an emergency appendectomy, Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wetzel are the parents of a daughter, born to them at the Potter County Memorial Hospital, Saturday, April 26.
Mrs. Bessie Tunny and son, Tom, of Rochester were Sunday guests of Mr,s. Tunny's aunt, Mrs. Clara Ridgway of Seventh Street. Mrs. Ridgway's health is very poor.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon Leet motored to Cuba Lake, Friday and were over night guests of the latter's cousin, Mrs. Jessie Lewis. Mrs. Lewis returned home with them, Saturday.
Sgt. Rupert Huntington, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Huntington Sr., has been assigned as chief of the mail and record section at Hollo-man Air Base in New Mexico. His new address is SSgt. Rupert S.
