- Obituary A. E. Eggleston
A. E. Eggleston: Aged and Respected Citizen Dies at Home Here [Coudersport, PA]-- The death of Allen (sic: Albert) E. Eggleston occurred at his home New Year's morning after a number of years of ill health.
He was born in Michigan, October 12, 1862, a son of Alton and Sara Kelly Eggleston. He had been a resident of Potter County for many years, residing on a farm in Hebron before taking up his residence in Coudersport. He acted as court tipstaff for a long period.
He was married to Henrietta Hollenbeck of Hebron.
Five children were born to them, three of whom survive:
Lynn, Roulette R. D.,
Mrs. Nellie Clark, Binghamton, N. Y., and
Mrs. Emma Brock, Roulette.
A daughter, Leona, died during young womanhood,
and a son, Allen, met his death in World War I.
Mrs. Eggleston is a patient in the Potter County Memorial Hospital at the present time.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Park Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Godon W. Loomis, officiating. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery. (source: photocopy of newspaper clipping, accessed at Potter County Historical Society, Coudersport, PA).
