Tithe payable to the Rector in 1845 was £13 13s. [Source: AT/24 Tithe Apportionment 1845 and MAT/24 map - Beds. Record Office] This was probably the same James. Was Titus the father of Lovey? 1851 Census HO107/1752 fol. 179 p.42: Wilshamstead, Beds. James SPRING, head, widower 73, farmer of 729 acres employing 4 men & 8 boys, b. Shillington, Beds., Eliza PULLEY servant, unmarried 22, house servant, b. Wilstead, Beds., Emma PULLEY, lodger 13, lace maker. b. Wilstead, Samuel CHENEY, servant, unmarried 20, horse keeper, b. Wilstead, Beds. 1854 Beds. Post Office Directory: Wilsted. James SPRING farmer. 1864 Post Office Directory: not listed, possibly indicating James has died by this date. I have no information on James s wife, Lovey CHERRY. However, on her notes I have recorded: A Lovey SPRING was born to a William and Huldah SPRING on 31 Aug 1803 [less than a month after James and Lovey's marriage] at Rockport, Knox, Maine, USA. [Source: www.familysearch.org - IGI] Coincidence? Could William have been related to James and known Lovey CHERRY, naming his own child after her?
