• Ernest Reed Takes Farmers Valley Girl As Bride
Miss Beverly Ann Bickford Given In Marriage By Brother in Double-Ring Ceremony At EUB Church, Saturday.
Miss Beverly Ann Bickford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin B. Bickford, of Farmers Valley, and Ernest E. Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Reed, of Coudersport, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon in the Farmers Valley Evangelical United Brethren Church. The Rev. Cecil Ross, of Salamanca, performed the double-ring ceremony before an alter decorated with pink gladioli and candlebra. He was assisted by the Rev. Lynn Ostrander. Miss Harriett Rockefeller, organist, rendered a program of bridal music and Miss Kay Ross, Salamanca, was soloist.
Given in marriage by her brother, Clayton Bickford, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white nylon lace over slipper satin. The bodice was covered with a lace jacket with Queen Anne collar and fingertip length sleeves. The skirt with pleated back that met the lace front was worn over bridal hoops. A tiara of pleated nylon edged with seed pearls topped the fingertip veil. She carried a white satin Bible topped with an orchid.
Mrs. Kenneth Burdick, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a light blue sheer over taffeta gown, nylon tulle trimming neckline and hem with matching hat. She carried a colonial bouquet of blue carnations.
Bridesmaids were Miss Emmo-gene Reed, sister of the bridegroom; Miss Judith Weimer, cousin of the bride and Georgia Bickford. They wore gowns of green, pink and yellow, nylon sheer over taffeta with matching headdress and bouquets.
Alice and Alan Burdick, twins, neice and nephew of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer. The former wore a nylon over pink gown and carried pink flowers.
Lester Watson of Rew was best man for his nephew.. Ushers, brothers of the bride, were Ivan, Dean and Galen Bickford.
The bride's mother selected a two-piece ensemble of, pink lace with black accessories. She wore a white carnation corsage. The bridegrooms mother wore a blue sheer dress with black accessories and a corsage of blue carnations.
Following the wedding, a reception for about 200 was held in the schoolhouse dining room at Farmers Valley. Sisters-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Clayton Bickford, Mrs. Dean Bickford and Mrs. Galen Bickford, were hostesses.
Mrs. Reed is a graduate of Smethport High School and is employed at the Viko Furniture Co. Mr. Reed is a graduate of Coudersport High School and is in the U. S. Navy, a Sea Bee stationed at Davesville, R. I.
For their honeymoon trip, the couple chose the Thousand Islands.
