He joined the Charlestown church 19 October 1633 (Records of the First church in charlestown, 1632-1789 1880 p 8). He was made a freeman 4 March 1633/4 (L. R. Paige List of Freemen of Massachusetts, 1630-1691 reprint 1978 p 12) He was in Charlestown on 10 October 1634, Edmund Hobart married Sarah, the widow of the Reverend John Lyford (C A Torrey "Edmund Hobart of Hingham, Massachusetts" TAG 1951 p 94-95). As "Edmund Hobart Sr." he was one of the first proprietors of Hingham, Massachusetts, drawing lot 17 on 18 September 1635 (NEHGR 1848 p 25). He was made a constable for Charlestown in 1635 (N B Shurtleff Records of the Governor and Company of the Massachusetts Bay in New England v 1 p 134) He was Hingham deputy 22 May 1639, 4 September 1639, 7 October 1640 and 8 September 1642 (ibid v 1 p 255, 271 301; v 2 p 23). He served on the grand jury 19 September 1637 (Ibid v 1 p 203). He was commissioner to end small causes for Hingham in 1638,1639 and 1641 (Ibid v 1 p 239, 259, 329). On 6 June 1639 he served on a committee to set a colony tax (Ibid v 1 p 260). He was fined 5 June 1638 for leaving an open pit, permitting a child to be drowned (Ibid v 1 p 233) His son, Reverend Peter Hobart's diary noted "March 8, 1646, father Hubbeard dyed" and "June 23, 1649, mother Hobart dyed" (NEHGR 1967 p18). I count 4 agnate descendants in NCAB.
