William & Polly Runyon Ooten and Their Posterity

William Ooten married Polly Runyon, daughter of Alexander and Sarah (Starr) Runyon about 1850. They lived on Trace Fork of Pigeon and had the following children:
1) Alexander Ooten married Polly Varney, daughter of Henry C. and Jane Yantas (McNeely) Varney of Rock House Fork. They reared a large family whose names were:
a) Mahulda Ooten married William Hall. Children of William and Mahulda Ooten Hall are Louise, Lee, John, Henry, Noah, Laura and Minnie.
b) Vicie Ooten married James Deskins (Notes by ljm. Marriage record shows that Vicie Oooten married John H. Deskins. John H. Deskins apparently died because the census records show with the children as so named in this family history that the husband of Vicie Oooten was James Deskins as published.) of Road Branch. Their children: Fred, Drewy, Ernest and Vada.
c) Nickatie Ooten married Henry Evans. They had six children: Joda, "H", Elizabeth, Lettie, May and Cordia.
d) Henry Ooten born in 1875, married Sarah Shepherd, born in 1877, daughter of George and Polly (Dempsey) Shepherd. They live at the old home place on Trace Fork. Their children: George, Carlos, Annie, Lum, Leonard, McClellan, Verdia, Cecil and Orville Jackson.
e) William Ooten married Rosena Estep, daughter of Rhodes and Polly (Runyon) Estep. Their children: Fred, Wilburn and others.
f) Jane Yantas Ooten married John Runyon, son of John Tyler and Lucinda (Staten) Runyon. Their children: Melvin, Elsworth and others.
g) Cleveland Ooten married Cordia Ooten. Their children: Willie, Ben, Marion, Hi, Riley, Hubert and Maude.
h) Rhodes Ooten married Victoria Estep, daughter of Johnathan. Their children: Joda, Sidney, Millard, Ballard and Vada. Victoria died and Rhodes married Pearl Farley. Their children: Rhodes Jr. and others.
i) Dow Ooten married Minnie Shepherd, sister to Henry Ooten's wife. One child: Wilburn B. Ooten.
j) Columbia Ooten married Will Hurley. Their children: Dow, James and others.
k) Rosie Ooten married Berb Deskins of Road Branch
2) Silas Ooten married Rosie Shepherd, daughter of "Big George" Shepherd. They had seven children as follows:
a) Jack Ooten married James White's daughter, Ellen. Their children: Henry Ooten and others.
b) Nancy Ooten married Jim Hall. Their children: McKinley, Victoria, Riley and others.
c) Polly Ooten married John Starr. No children.
d) Liza Ooten married Jonathan Fouch. One child.
e) Victoria Ooten married Allen White.
f) George Ooten married John White's daughter
g) Wallace Ooten married Dixie Farley, the daughter of Dr. Will Farley. Their children: Charlie Ooten and others.
3) Riley Ooten married Thurzie Harris, daughter of Jim Harris and sister to Poke, Tom and Bob Harris. Their children:
a) James Ooten married Rhodes Estep's daughter, Leota. Their children: Frank, George, Ella, Thurzie and others.
b) Robert Ooten married Sherd Curry's daughter. Their children: Ermal, Stella and others.
c) Joe Ooten married Angeline Evans, daughter of Amos Evans. Their children: Raymond, Johnie, and Thurzie.
d) Millard Ooten married Ethel Hall, daughter of John Hall. Their children: George, Riley and others
4) Benjamin Ooten married Johnathan Estep's daughter. Katie.
5) Betty Ooten married Jim Marcum. Their children: Alex, Tom, Riley, Ben and Silas.
6) Risbie Ooten married John Ance Blair. One daughter: Sarah.
The William (Billy) Ooten family record was given by Henry Ooten and his wife Sarah. Trace Fork of Pigeon Creek.
