John's first wife was Margery Deane, daughter of William Deane of South Chard, County Somerset, England. Margery died in 1635, soon after they arrived in New England on the "Hopewell."
His second wife was Abigail (Ford) Strong.
He was the son of John Strong of Chard, Co. Somerset. His mother's name may have been Eleanor Deane Strong, although her origins are not known with certainty.
Children(by first marriage): John Strong III and an infant son who was born at sea and died along with his mother shortly after arrival in New England.
