  LifeSketch	The Castilian Newspaper, 1905 Reverend Edwin James Whitney, pastor of the M.E. church at Angelica, was suddenly Stricken with paralysis. He was taken to his home in an unconscious condition and remained so until 4:30 Saturday morning when he passed away. Edwin James Whitney was the son of Alvin and Betsey Cook Whitney and was born in Pavilion March 10th, 1847. He married Miss Myra C. Bentley of Roy, Jun 1871. He was converted when 18 years of age and in 1871 began studying for the ministry at the Genesee M.E. conference in 1876 and in 1878 was ordained as a minister of the gospel. During his years pastorate in Castile, Mr. Whitney, by his genial and kindly nature. Rev Whitney won a host of friends whose deep and earnest sympathy will go out to the family in their sudden bereavement. Beside Mrs. Whitney he leaves one daughter, Mrs. W.B. Bartlett of this place and five sons, William, Edwin, Alvin and Vale, who form the noted Whitney Eros. Quartet, and Ward, who lived at home. Edwin also leaves a brother and four sisters. The deceased was a Knight Templar, an Odd Fellow and a Macabee.
