Aunt Sally McCoy had had a child before she married Ranel in 1849 at the age of twenty. This child, a daughter named Josephine, was 31 in 1880 and had 2 illegitimate children of her own.

This weathered and hand-colored photograph is of Josephine McCoy (1848-1929), a beloved daughter of feudist Randolph "Ol' Ran'l" McCoy (1825-1914) and Sarah "Aunt Sally" McCoy (1829-1890). Josephine was once married to a distant cousin, George Washington McCoy (1844-1904), and later to Lewis Runyon (1849-1906).
Josephine's children include
Lona Della McCoy (1872-?),
Leland McCoy (1877-1958), and
Victoria McCoy Moore (1883-?).
Her siblings included James
"Big Jim" McCoy (1849-1929);
Tolbert McCoy (1854-1882);
Lilburn Lebord McCoy (1854 -?);
Samuel McCoy (1855-1921);
Infant female McCoy (1857-1857);
Alifair McCoy (1858-1888 -killed in New Years Day Massacre);
Floyd McCoy (1858-1928);
Roseanna McCoy (1859-1889);
Calvin McCoy (1862-1888 -killed in New Years Day Massacre);
Pharmer McCoy (1863-1882);
Randolph "Buddy" McCoy Jr. (1864-1882);
William McCoy (1866-1883);
Twinvilla McCoy Thompson (1868 -?);
Adelaide McCoy (1870-1898); and
Fannie McCoy Charles (1872-1943).
Josephine was buried in 1929 at the McCoy Cemetery, Burnwell, KY, near her son Leland.

Regarding her sibling Tolbert McCoy. He was married to Mary Butcher, which is my family : my Grandma was Ethel Butcher , Logan County and Chapmanville. My mother was born there as well

Jim , I think we were one of the North Carolina bunch of Mccoys, we came here to Greensport , then to Mccoy mountain ( Now known as Country Club, then to Hokes Bluff , and North Gadsden by 4 brothers whom were all in the timber industry, you should talk to Bill he has done much Mccoy Genealogy about this , of course we then Feuded among ourselves .
