AGE 93 YEARS
Dan D. Peterman, of Muncy Valley, Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was the son of John J. and Ruth (Houseknecht) Peterman. He married Holly (Robbins) Peterman with whom he shared ten loving years of marriage. After graduating from Sullivan County High School in 1949, Dan also attended Harrisburg Business School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, stationed on a submarine. Once home, Dan worked as a salesman for International Harvester and was also a member of the International Harvester Museum in Millville, Pa. He and his first wife, Frances, opened and operated Ben Franklin Stores in Highland Falls, NY, Tremont, Pa, and Millersburg, Pa. Dan enjoyed gardening, farming, refurbishing furniture, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family above all else.
In addition to his wife Holly Peterman, Dan is survived by five children: Scott (Brenda) Peterman of Fairfax, Va, Denise (Mike) Fisher of Staunton, Va, Brenda (Jim) Kline of Aldie, Va, Beth Peterman of Waynesboro, Va, and Marty (Heather) Peterman of Barboursville, Va; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a niece. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his first wife: Frances Peterman; two brothers: John and Ward Peterman; a sister: Violet Peterman, and two sisters in infancy.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. James W. Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Nordmont.
