  	20250809GHLn- Harley C Houseknecht (1924 - 2008) Harley C. Houseknecht, 84, of Hughesville, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born February 9, 1924, in Hughesville, he was a son of the late Clayton M. and Carrie P. Myers Houseknecht. He and his wife, the former Janet R. Nixon, celebrated 60 years of marriage on February 12. Harley was a graduate of Hughesville High School Class of 1942. He was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and saw action during the Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Harley retired in 1986 from the former Sprout-Waldron Company, Muncy, after having worked there for 40 years. Harley was of the Lutheran faith and a former member of the Roaring Run Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid stamp collector who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, H. Stephen (Cathy) Houseknecht of Hughesville; a daughter, Debra R. (Steven) Temple of Muncy; a brother, Leon ?Amos? Houseknecht of Pennsdale; and four grandchildren, Sean Stephen Houseknecht, Ryann L. Houseknecht, Carrie R. Temple and Shannon A. Temple. Harley was preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver, Jesse and George Houseknecht; and a sister, Mary ?Sis? Houseknecht. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Gregory Davidson presiding. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, 215 E. Water St., Muncy, PA 17756.
