Stephen Hopkins' 2 wives
Above note correct, wife was not Dudley.
SEE: Many source documents (new, reprinted, and historical) in book by Caleb Johnson, "Here Shall I Die Ashore." (Copy in PALE private library; many long excerpts of book available on-line; extensive sources listed and reprinted. Many Hopkins "myths" debunked.)
I. Mary =1st wife Stephen Hopkins, LNU although could be Machell or Kent=UNPROVEN), mar. probably in or slightly before 1605, in England, as likely date for their 1st daughter, Elizabeth is abt 1605; 2nd child=Constance b. 11 May 1606; 3rd child=Gyles (aka Latinized "Egidius") b. abt. 1608; no proof for other children; see estate inventory for Mary Hopkins who died in England in 1613.
II. Elizabeth LNU (possibly Fisher)= 2nd wife mar. 19 Feb 1616/17 (double date year), Children (not in order/some dates unknown): Oceanus, Caleb, Deborah, Damaris I (died young), Damaris II, Ruth, Elizabeth. Children listed in this tree by others appear to be wrong at this time. Stephen's 2nd wife Elizabeth Hopkins was born in England, came over on Mayflower (gave birth to son Oceanus during passage who later died in Bermuda), Stephen's 2nd wife Elizabeth Hopkins died in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, likely between 1638-1644.
