"Rebecca Araminta Leslie was born on July 14, 1852, on John's Creek, and was married on February 22, 1877 in Pike County, to William Harmon Maynard. Mr. Maynard had gone west with his parents when quite young but had returned to teach school in the county. He later became High Sheriff of Pike County and was holding that office at the time of the Hatfield-McCoy feud trials. He died on October 10, 1912. Mrs. Maynard continued to maintain their home at Zebulon, near the mouth of Cook Creek, where they had lived since about 1895. The first 15 years of their married life was spent on Sycamore Creek, a branch of John's Creek. Mrs. Maynard died at Zebulon on January 14, 1929, and is buried in the Maynard family cemetery there as are her husband and several of their children."

Died at his home in the Town of Reynolds, of heart disease, on Tuesday morning,
December 29, 1885, Benjamin Maynard, aged 70 years and 2 months.
Deceased is one of the early settlers of Reynolds emigrating from Pike
county Kentucky, fifteen years ago and settling in the farm where he
lived at the time of his death. He has been in poor health for sometime
and during the past ten days was unable to lie down and his death was
not wholly unexpected. He leaves a wife to mourn his death with whom he
has lived for forty-nine years, and a large family of grown children.
The funeral services were held at the Reynolds church by his request,
to-day at 11 o'clock and the burial will be made this afternoon.
