Condolences
Homer Lee Matthews, 87, of Middlebourne, WV passed away February 6, 2022. Born, August 16, 1934, the son of James and Goldie Matthews, Homer was a Church of Christ minister for 50 years, worked as a meat cutter for A&P, and a paramedic for the Middlebourne Emergency Squad and Wetzel County Hospital ER. He enjoyed hunting, camping, working in his vegetable garden, and carpentry work. Homer was a member of the Gorrells Run Church of Christ. He was a Loving husband, father, and grandfather, but most of all, he enjoyed helping people.
Along with his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his first wife, Berdine Eddy Matthews; brothers, Virgil Matthews, and Gerald Matthews; and sister, Madeline Wells.
Surviving is his current wife, Patricia Forrester Matthews of Toronto, OH; son, Steve (Brenda) Matthews of Paden City; daughter, Crucita Kendle of Middlebourne; brother, Dewayne (Louise) Matthews of Elk Fork; brother-in-law, Charles Eddy of Sistersville; grandchildren, Tony (Brandi) Kile of Middlebourne, Matthew (Christy) Kile of Middlebourne, Chad Kile of Middlebourne, Andrea (Dr. Zaveen) Kureishy of Wheeling, Leah (Adam) Morris of Milton, WV, Aaron (Vanessa) Matthews of Sistersville, Bridget Matthews of Paden City; 11 great-grandchildren; and nephew Shane (Lauren) Matthews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 12-2pm and 4-8pm at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, WV where services will be held at 11am Thursday, February 10, 2022 with Evangelist Niles Hissam officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Fork Cemetery, Middlebourne, WV.
