We could be relatives from both sides of my family. Crazy . I have to get back into my tree when not at work. I have a bunch of information in there. When I met with the Colorado Mayflower historian , she had given me some great information. She firmly believed the Hopkins that shipwrecked in Bermuda, before sailing on to Virginia was in fact the same Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower. Have you read the book "On These Shores I Shall Die " ? . Really a good book on SH. The shipwreck was an inspiration for Shakespeare's "The Tempest" . I did not like the Stephen of that story. My line to him was quite simple. Aaron Hall married to Polly Cook, to John Cook,to James Cook, to Moses Cook, to Ephraim Cook, to Joshua Cook to Josiah Cook who married Deborah Hopkins, daughter of Giles Hopkins, son of Stephen Hopkins. There you go. My wife and I have 4 dogs,3 cats, and 5 goats. So when they holler, I have to drop what I'm doing and take care of them. They own us I believe. My e-mail is wkhall187@yahoo.com. Hello John . My name is Ken Hall. Most impressed with your family tree. I do believe your Hall line of Francis, Samuel,Samuel,David,David, to Levi -died 1820. Are also of my direct line. The earliest proven Hall I have is Aaron Hall 1819-1903. However I did the Family Tree DNA Y test and have an exact match to Francis Hall born 1608-England to 1690 Connecticut. On Aaron Halls death certificate it showed his fathers name as Levi. No Mother name. Your tree shows Levi dying in 1820, so my belief is he traveled from NY to Ohio with another family member. Has anyone in your Hall line done the DNA ? Any information you might share would be appreciated. Also on my Moms side ,my GG Grandmother was Fannie Hatfield of the Hatfields of Virginia..So we are likely linked there as well. Look forward to hearing back from you.

FANTASTIC! [My dogs are pressuring me to go outside, but I can't leave this. Trying to explain it to them, but they can't seem to relate! I'll make it up to them.]
I found you on AncestryDNA, copied your tree as a pdf for reference, so much to fill in now.
I was going to mention Stephen HOPKINS, but you already have him. There is some question as to which SH he was. The one on the Mayflower had also been an earlier Jamestown visitor, who was almost hanged for insubordination... Thank Goodness cooler heads prevailed! Or,... a SH who showed up in Providence RI a little later. Do you have any better info on them?
I've joined the Mayflower group on FTDNA, so it's a positive thing that I was admitted, but we're also connected to John BILLINGTON and his son Francis, from the Mayflower. (Charles Mann, author of '1491' is also descended from the BILLINGTONs. I was going to tell you what our relation to him is, but he's been eliminated from my tree!!! GRRRRRRRRR@#$%*&() That's another (frustrating) story! The pics are not even in the Media file. ..But we're related.]

Hi John. I am absolute on the information I gave you. That material was from family bibles, and records handed down through generations. Reason I hired Pro Genealogist is to extend out my Hall line prior to Aaron Hall. So you say we are 5th cousins on the Hall side. What is your line to the Halls ? This is exciting to find someone as passionate about this as I am. My Aaron Hall 1819-1903 was married to a Polly Cook. She is my direct link to Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower. I will snoop through my ancestry dna results and see if I can find you. My Francis Fanny Hatfield is another absolute. That cam from my Grandpa's bible handed down to him. Fanny is an odd name. But guess it was used quite a bit as a nickname. Please enjoy looking through my tree. Look forward to hearing from you again......Ken

I've had my AncestryDNA results for several weeks now. It's my dad's and siblings' results that are outstanding. I've also done extensive testing at FTDNA several years ago, Family Finder (autosomal), Full mtDNA, and Y-DNA111, adding BigY a little later. I know that my father submitted his AncestryDNA, because I had him (and my brother Wayne) do it while I was there. I spoke with dad yesterday, and he said that he just sent his FTDNA sample in (that took a couple weeks). I can hardly wait to get his results, less diluted than mine one generation later.
We must be talking about different Fanny Hatfields.
-- OK, I just found you in AncestryDNA, which has us as 5th cousins, through HALL.
But what about HATFIELD?? My 'Fanny' doesn't match yours (That doesn't sound right), so I've got to take my line further back, which, with the help of your tree, I can do now and I'll look for verifications on-line.
How confident are you of these connections?
I'm afraid I have some mistakes tucked away in places from my very early days doing this. I spend so much time now on documentation and source verification (I guess 'vetting', in today's vernacular), to minimize mistakes, but it seems that Zero Tolerance is nearly impossible.
So, thank you again so much for making contact. I'm weak on that side of my Family Tree; correcting that!

Good morning John. Fanny Hatfield was my maternal Grand Fathers, Great Grandma.Francis Fanny Hatfield married William Barnett, to son John K Barnett, to William F Barnett, to Walter F Barnett, to Marian L Barnett ( my Mom) . She married Ken Hall Sr . So with the Halls the earliest I have at present is Levi Hall b.1785. to Aaron Hall b.1819 NY, to Levi Hall Sr b 1841 Ohio, to Levi Hall Jr. b.1878 Michigan, to Ken Hall Sr. b.1927, to me. Really curious what type of DNA matches we may have when you get your results back. I did Ancestry DNA,. But have a Pro Genealogist working on linking my Halls from Francis Hall (an exact DNA match). They recommended I have the Y DNA done by Family Tree DNA. Only three matches there. But as I say the one to Francis Hall 1619-1690 is my best. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Always fun to meet new cousins.

Dear Ken,
I have Fannie Hatfield. What is your lineage to her? Fascinating!
I have no contact with any living Hall relatives, although a good college friend, with whom I just spent 10 days in Afrika, is named James Orren Hall, from Chautauqua County, NY.
I've done extensive DNA testing and have had my kids test FTDNA and my brothers AncestryDNA (results not back yet.) So we may be able to gleen something from these tests. I also have some cousins on my mother's side (Spring-Snyder-Hall...) so some reinforcement might help here as well.
What is your Hall line? I can connect you if you share your parents and grandparents, hopefully.
