Neefe, 80, of Galeton died on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro. He was born on March 2, 1930, in Sweden Valley, son of the late Thomas and Lavana (McCloskey) Neefe. On Oct. 24, 1953, in Galeton, he married the former Maxine Goodwin, who survives. He was a 1947 Graduate of Coudersport High School. Walt worked on his father's farm in Sweden Hill, was a truck driver for many years and retired from Johnson Truck Line in Tioga in 1992. He was a member of Galeton Moose. He loved playing cards, fishing, hunting and camping. Surviving besides his wife of 57 years, Maxine Neefe, are, - a son, Walter Bruce Neefe of Bilerica, Mass.; two daughters, - Lucinda (Phil) Petty of Waverly, N.Y., and - Kimberly (Kenneth) Schaar of Germania; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; - a sister, Christine (Harold) Baumann of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, - Phillip and Hollis. Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel in Galeton on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, from noon to 1 p.m. A private Graveside Service will be held at the family's convenience. Memorial contributions may be made to the Galeton Fireworks Committee or to the Gale Hose Ambulance Association.
