In the autumn of 1767, accompanied by two christian Indians, he traveled from Bethlehem, Pa., by way of the North Branch of the Susquehanna, Chemung, Tioga, Cowanesque, and Allegheny Rivers to a point near the mouth of Tionesta Creek to establish an Indian mission.
