Edd Plants
Ill Only One Week -- Dies In Hospital -- Funeral Tuesday.
Edd Plants, a resident of Plank Road, passed away at St. Francis Hospital, Olean, Saturday (Aug. 18, 1951) after a week's Illness. He was born at Andrews Settlement, May 1, 1873, the son of Reuben C. and Marlnda Sherwood Plants. At the age of 11 he moved to the farm which was his home at the time of his death and where he lived his entire lifetime. Mr. Plants was married to Lucy Wheeler, in 1899, and she preceded him In death 13 years ago.
He Is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Martin, Allentown, N. Y, Mrs. Ervin Sherwood and Mrs. Alfred Brooks, Shinglehouse; one son, Reuben Plants, Ceres; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Hamilton, Ulysses; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the McLaughlin Home for Funerals where services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Paul Whitcomb, pastor of the E. TJ. B. Church, officiated. Burial was In East Sharon Cemetery.

The marriage of Miss Marcella Wetzell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christy Wetzel, Shinglehouse, to Richard Eugene Jordan, son or Mr. and Mrs. Homer Jordan, Ceres, was performed in the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, by the Rev. M H. Vincent, pastor, Saturday af ternoon at 1:30.
The church was decorated with assorted bouquets and white streamers. A program of wedding music was played by Mrs. Dorothy Bailey. Miss Dianne Kemp sang "Because" "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Song Is You."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white gown fashioned in a lace top and full marquisette skirt entrain. Her illusion veil was attached to a lace cap entwined with seed pearls. She carried a white Bible with satin streamers.
Miss Mary Ellen Wetzel, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Brides-maids were Miss Joan Gross of Shinglehouse and Miss Wilma Lemon, Richburg. Their gowns were of coral, blue and green with satin tops and full net skirts over satin. They wore matching net caps entwined with pearls and carried colonial bouquets.
Eugene Best acted as best man. Ushers were William Miller and Glenn Wetzel, brother of the bride. Mrs. Wetzel, mother of the bride, chose a green print dress with a corsage of pink roses and carnations. Mrs. Jordan, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue dress with a corsage of pink roses and carnations.
A reception was held at the bride's home. The couple will reside on East State St., Olean.
Mrs. Jordan attended Shinglehouse High School and Mr. Jordan attended Bolivar High School.
Guests were present from Millport, Richburg, Olean, Bolivar and Ceres.
Isaac Myrick
Aged Resident Dies in Olean Hospital -- Ill Short Time.
Isaac Myrick, a life-long resident of Shinglehouse, died Sunday afternoon (Aug. 19, 1951) at the Mountain Clinic Olean. after a short Ill ness. He was born Dec. 17, 1868, at Birmingham, O., the son of John S. and Harriett Evans Myrick. He was married to Amanda Huber July 26, 1894, at Pittsburgh. She died in 1939. Mr. Myrick was employed as a glass cutter at Palmer Window Glass Co. at Shinglehouse until the plant was closed. He was then employed by the American Glass Co. at Belle Vernon, Pa., until 1945, when he retired. He is survived by one son, Blair Myrick, Pittsburgh; three daughters, Mrs. Eldyn Fenner, Mrs. Frank Karr and Miss Edna Myrick, all of Shinglehouse; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed from the Howard Funeral Home to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eldyn Fenner, where funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Harold Sherman, pastor of the Shinglehouse Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
