The following obituary appeared in "The Courier Express" (DuBois, PA) on November 25, 2013:

William D. Chittester, 91, North Fourth Street, DuBois, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 23, 1922, in Falls Creek, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lottie Matthews Chittester.
In 1943, he married Peggy V. Cowherd Chittester. She preceded him in death Oct. 23, 2012.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
He retired from the Riverside Division of the Penn Traffic Co. after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the course at Treasure Lake and the DuBois Country Club.

Bill is survived by
- his two children,
- Jeri Kost and her husband, Eric of Perrysburg, Ohio and
- William "Mick" Chittester and his wife, Sharon of DuBois;
- a sister, Jean Mong and her husband, Alfred of Franklin;
- eight grandchildren and
- 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by
- five brothers:
- Lawrence,
- Robert,
- Thomas,
- Dale, and
- Kenneth and
- two sisters,
- Ruth Crawford and
- Gladys Morrison.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Lakeside United Methodist Church with his son, Rev. Mick Chittester and Pastor Bob Zilhaver officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Peggy V. Chittester, 88, North Fourth Street, DuBois, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the home of her son, Mick Chittester.

Born March 12, 1924, in Hopewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Ray and Nancy Cowherd.

She was married to William D. Chittester in 1943. He survives.
Peggy was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois. She was also a member of the DuBois Country Club and enjoyed golfing.

Peggy is also survived by her two children,
- Jeri Kost and her husband Eric of Perrysburg, Ohio, and
- William "Mick" Chittester and his wife Sharon of DuBois;
- eight grandchildren; and
- nine great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Warren "Bud" Cowherd and William Cowherd.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Zilhaver and Peggy's son, the Rev. Mick Chittester, officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
