Shinglehouse Couple To Be Feted On Sunday

Friends & neighbors have been invited to an Open House celebration Sunday from 3 to 5 PM honoring Mr & Mrs Christy R Wetzel, on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, to be held at the Fire Hall on Puritan Ave.
The event is being hosted by their 7 children & their families:
- Mrs. Evelyn Engle, Daly City, Calif;
- Mr & Mrs Glenn Wetzel, Millport;
- Mr & Mrs Edwin Wetzel, Coudersport;
- Mr & Mrs Gordon (Mary Ellen) Olson, Olean;
- Mr & Mrs Richard E (Emily) Jordan, Bolivar;
- Mr & Mrs Robert Wetzel, Tully, NY; &
- Mr & Mrs David Wetzel, Port Allegany.

Mr & Mrs Wetzel have 15 grandchildren.
Mr Wetzel & the former Melda Varney were married on April 23(sic), 1924 in Logan, WV. Officiating at the ceremony was the Rev Dyke Garrett.
Mr & Mrs Joseph (Hattie) Varney were the couple's attendants.
Mr. Wetzel worked for 40 years in the oil & gas field in WV & PA before retiring in 1962.
Mrs Wetzel will be remembered by many for her homemade bread. They presently reside at 28 First St, in Shinglehouse.

My grandparents, moved to Shinglehouse in 1938 from Southwest Penna coal country. I can still smell her homemade bread and doughnuts. mmmm...

Donald Adams Mine also, and I grad. with Dave, he would have loved seeing this and the walk down memory lane. Love Mary Ellen, we used to "hang" after school while Gordon was in the service....such a sweet lady.
