BENTON, Ill. Nell Gorham, 78, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Anne Williams of Benton. She was a retired registered nurse.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Wellsville, N.Y., and a member of the American Association of University Women. She served as a captain in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in World War II.
Also surviving are four daughters, Elsie McEnroe of Keno, Ore., Sheila Bowerman of Macedon, N.Y., Rachel Gorham of Bolivar, -N.Y., and Lucinda Gorham of Coudersport, Pa.; a son, Charles Gorham of Bolivar; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Mertins and Cliffie Jo Mertins, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, Clifford Mertins of Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and a great -grandchild.
Her husband, Fordyce Gorham, died in 1992.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Embser Funeral Home in Welleville with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Coudersport.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.
Hobbs Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
