WOMAN'S INJURIES SO SEVERE WHEN STRUCK BY CAR DEATH RESULTS
Mrs. Anton Zizka of Roulette Victim of Fatal Accident - Legs and Arms Broken - Hurried to Coudersport Hospital But Lives Only Few Hours - Funeral Held From Home - Husband and Four Daughters Survive.
Mrs. Anton Zizka of Roulette was struck by a motor Saturday morning about 9 o'clock and so severely injured that she passed away in the Coudersport General Hospital at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. When the terrible accident occurred Mrs. Zizka was out to the road to get an insured package from the rural carrier. When he dropped his pencil and did not readily find it, she volunteered to go in the house to secure one. It was immediately following that the rapidly moving car struck her. The machine was driven by Milford Corwin of Odin, a lad about 20 years of age, and there seems to be some difference in opinion as to who was at fault.
It was seen at once that Mrs. Zizka's injuries were of very serious nature and she was brought to the local hospital and given every attention, but her life could not be saved.
Deceased was born in Bohemia, 57 years ago, coming to this country when young and for 37 years residing near Roulette. She is survived by her husband and four daughters. The daughters are
- Mrs. Carroll Fessenden,
- Mrs. Ed Owen and
- Mrs. Everett Ditto of Roulette and
- Mrs. Floyd Elliot of Cleveland, O.
Funeral services were held from the family home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. Barbery officiating and
- interment made in the Lyman cemetery.
The accident was a most deplorable one and again emphasizes the fact that motorists do not use good judgment in driving at such terrific speed.
