Death came at 6:30 last night to Mrs. Annis Burt Coleman, of Burtville, daughter of the first male white child born in Potter County.
Mrs. Coleman's 100th birthday, which attracted national attention, was celebrated March 25, 1960 at the 95-acre poultry farm where she was born, has always made her home where she died quietly in her sleep yesterday (Oct. 18, 1960).
She was one of 13 children born to John Keating and Orilla Lyman Burt. Her paternal grandparents were the first settlers of Burtville, arriving there in 1810. Another ancestor, Maj. Isaac Lyman, was commissioned to open Rt. 6, formerly known as the East-West Road.
Her husband. Andrew Horace Coleman, who died in September, 1933, was, a grandson of Dr. Horace Coleman, the first postmaster in Port Allegany.
Until a few months ago, Mrs. Coleman was still active in performing various chores connected with the poultry business, which she has operated with her daughter, Miss Leo Coleman.
Friends will be received at the Gallup Funeral Home in Port Allegany after 6:30 tonight. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 o'clock at the funeral home, under the direction of the Rev. Orrin T. Carroll, pastor of the First Methodist Church Port Allegany. Burial will follow the Card Creek Cemein tery. Friends are requested not to send flowers.
