HILDA SCHOENDORFER’S SECOND HUSBAND - LAWRENCE GRABE
Hilda Wilhelmina Schendorfer was born 05 Sep 1891 in Ulysses, PA to Anna Elizabeth Mosch and Frank Schoendorfer. Hilda’s father at one time was employed as a blacksmith at what was previously known as the Gordnier Foundry on Oak Street in Coudersport, thence Hilda attended high school in Coudersport and graduated in 1909.
She married Francis Drew Coates 10 Jun 1913 in Jersey Shore, where her father relocated the Scoendorfer family to head up the New York Central RR Band.
Francis was born 25 Mar 1892 in Whitesville, NY to Isabelle O’Connel and Chandler Coates.
He died 26 Nov 1949 in Herkimer, NY. I do not have a timeline for Hilda’s eventual relocation to Florida, but we know that
she remarried a previous Coudersport High School classmate, Lawrence Scott Grabe, who appears in this 1909 class photo.
Lawrence was born 07 Apr 1890 in Coudersport to Emilie Breunle and Gustave Grabe.
He and Hilda were married 10 Feb 1969 in Ormond Beach, FL.
Their marriage was cut short with his death 01 Mar 1970.
Hilda died four years later on 12 Apr 1974 in Ormond Beach.

My Dad, Don Schoendorfer, told me he remembers visits with Aunt Hilda when he was young. She was very kind & would help him learn to read.

Anna McBride, Hilda was a widow for 20 years. Do you know of her occupation and where she lived during that time period?
