Three images are attached. The first is the final edited version (cropped, corrected and enhanced). The second is the original unedited photo. The third is the back of the photo.
The caption follows. Corrections and new information are always welcome.
(Charles L. Vergason and Alvira Russell were my great-great-grandparents.)
Strong Sisters: Elmina Margaret Strong (left) and Cynthia Maria Strong. They were among eight children born to Orange Woodruff Strong (1806-1882) and Margaret P. Dingman (abt 1815-1870).
Elmina was born 17 Aug 1851 in Pennsylvania. She died 2 Mar 1911 in Eldred, McKean Co., PA. She married Andrew Isaac Cornelius (1847-1918).

Cynthia was born 10 Oct 1835 in Hebron Twp., Potter Co., PA. She died 6 Dec 1915 in Eulalia Twp., Potter Co., PA. Her first husband was William Clark McCann (1833-1934). He died from typhoid fever two months after joining the Union Army. After William’s death, Cynthia married widower Charles L. Vergason (1833-1924). His first wife was Alvira Russell (1831-1865).

Tina Johnson Daughenbaugh I just figured out I have "Orange Augustus" as one person, not 2 !! Which one is right? ( Also, how is your hand ?!)

Hmmm...ok, I've got to do some research on that...lol I'm 2nd guessing myself. And my hand is very sore. It swelled up pretty good, but most of that has gone down now. It's a very pretty shade of black, blue and green now. It wouldn't hurt so bad if I didn't run it in to everything.

Tina Johnson Daughenbaugh This Strong line has given me fits over the years. I have 12, pretty much agreeing with this card I'd gotten on the internet (so it must be right, right?) After I'd gotten over confusion with Calvin and Cassius, and Chauncey, I had a little trouble with Albert and Orange. Albert was 1 yr old in the 1850 census; no Orange. Orange was 11 years old in the 1860 census; no Albert.

findagrave combines Albert and Orange into Orange Albert Strong, which I also suspected all along. There is a lot of jumping around between first and middle names. Orange Albert Strong BIRTH 1847 Pennsylvania, USA
DEATH 18 Nov 1920 (aged 72-73) Todd County, Minnesota, USA
BURIAL Hewitt Cemetery
Hewitt, Todd County, Minnesota, USA
MEMORIAL ID 116449637 ·
sister to Mary Martha Halliday buried in Hewitt Cemetery
They lived in Stowe Prairie Township, Todd Co., MN together after Mary was widowed. In which case, Tina Johnson Daughenbaugh I'm back to your 11. That does appear to explain the shimmering Albert and Orange.

Thank you for sharing. I’m so happy to see my Great Grandmother and some information about her. I remember Gramma talking about her Aunt Cindy wished I would have written the stories down.

Gerry Hamilton, thank you so very much for sharing this picture. Elmina is my 2x's Great Grandmother. Her daughter Nellie Sturdevant was my Great Grandmother. I have her death as being somewhere up Eleven Mile.(I could be mistaken) Before that however she did reside in Eldred. Elmina and my Great Great Grandfather Andrew Isaac Cornelius are buried in Crystal Cemetery on the Eleven Mile Rd, as well as several other of our Cornelius family. I have never seen a picture of her. This is awesome. I need to save a copy of this. You made my day!! I can definitely see Grandma Nellie in her.... ?

Woman on the left is my 2x's Great Grandmother Elmina Strong Cornelius. This would be my Great Grandmother, Nellie Sturdevants mother. I have never seen a pic of her before. Someone on the Genealogy site I started just shared this. The woman on the right is her sister Cynthia Strong Vergason. I thought maybe my cousins on this side of the family might be interested in seeing this too. I love finally putting faces to names.

Sure can see Gram and Uncle John in her. Jane and I used to steal Cigs from Uncle John , then go down behind the chicken house and smoke them. The were sure better than the corn silk, it was too hot.
