My Great Great Grandfather Karl Herman Mosch of Germania, PA had a special bee hobby. His apiary was the largest in that section and possibly all of Northern PA. Quantities of comb honey was shipped from the farm. This constituted one of the principle sources of ready cash. Honey was a substitute for sugar, for medicine and was traded for maple syrup, clothing and staples. Many of his children and grandchildren are shown in this late 1800's photo on his farm in Germania.

Their kids are (and I'm not certain which is who): Olive (Metzger), Hertha (McElroy) my grandmother, Kate (Tucker), Sophia (Palmatier), Emil Jr. (Ernie Mosch's dad), Frank, Walter & Minnie (Erway). Those on the left (not sure which is who): Herman, Karl, Lena, Anna & Christian. Their kids mixed in: Albert, Otto, Emma, ?,?,?. The older woman may be my Great Great Grandmother Caroline Scheider Mosch.
