Dies Early Monday
Mrs. Cynthia Mathews, 76, a resident of this city practially all her life died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lyle Moler, 206 West Boone street, at 1 a.m. Monday. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy suffered Saturday morning.
Mrs Mathews was born Cynthia Strong, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Samuel Strong, Sept. 1, 1863, in Holland, Mich. She was the mother of six children, all of whom preceded her in death except the daughter, Mrs. Moler, with whom she made her home in recent years. Other surviving relatives are two sisters,
- Mrs. Mary Beach of this city and
- Mrs. Pete Peterson of Motley, Minn, and
four brothers,
- John Strong of this city,
- George Strong, Owatonna, Minn,
- Henry Strong, Iowa Falls, and
- Dell Strong, Morley, Minn.
Five grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Mathews was a member of the Methodist church of Marshalltown.
The body will remain at the Pursell funeral home for services which will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Dr. F.F. Travis.
- Burial will be in Timber Creek cemetery.
