Floyd. R. Brooks, 75 of Austin RD2, died Monday (Feb. 23 1976) in Cole Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Conrad, Potter County, Sept 3, 1900, he was a son of John and Nora McFall Brooks.
On Nov. 28, 1925, in Olean, N.Y., he married the former Ruth Lockwood, who survives.
Mr. Brooks was a lifetime resident of the Austin Area, and was a retired employee of the Pitt-Corning Corp.
Surving are
two sons, Edwin Brooks, Austin RD2, and
Robert Brooks, Emporium;
- one daughter Irene Pensworth, Eldred;
15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene Ruth Penworth, 83, formerly of Newell Creek Road, passed away peacefully Sunday (June 10, 2012) at the Golden Living Center Kinzua in Warren.
She was born July 8, 1928, in Coudersport, to Floyd and Ruth Lockwood Brooks.
On April 6, 1968, she married James Penworth, who predeceased her in March 2002.
Irene enjoyed gardening and bingo; she was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping.
She is survived by her children,
- Linda Kramer,
- James (Gladys) Herbstritt,
- John (Holly) Herbstritt,
- Susan Herbstritt,
- Ken (Letta) Herbstritt,
- Russell Herbstritt and
- Cindy (Chuck Baker) Furman;
as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by
- her son, Joseph Herbstritt in November of 2000.
A celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Austin.
