Obituary: Jay D. Spring, enjoyed fishing, boating and camping; Olean, NY

OLEAN- Jay D. Spring of 124 W. Green St. died unexpectedly Wednesday (Dec. 14, 2005) in his home. Born in Allegany on Sept. 1, 1942, he was a son of John & Iva Snyder Spring. Mr. Spring was a 1960 graduate of Allegany High School and served with the US Army from 1962 through 1965 at Fort Myer, Arlington, Va. He was employed at AVX in Olean from 1965 until his retirement Sept. 6, 2003. Mr. Spring was an accomplished wood craftsman and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating and camping. He was a volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers. His family and friend will remember him for his giving spirit. Surviving are two sons, David J. Spring and Daniel J. Spring, both of Olean; a sister, Katherine Elizabeth Nicosia of Zephyrhills, Fla; three brothers, John Spring of Fort Pierce, Fla, Jim Spring of San Diego, Calif, and Jerry Spring of Allegany; and his best friend and fishing partner, Ray Haberly of Portville. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters,
Suzanne Getchell and Merlyn Wetzel; and
two brothers,
Joseph Spring and Judson Spring
... Interment Saturday Dec 17, 2005 in Allegany Cemetery.
