• R. A. Butterfield Dies In Olean Hospital
Richard A. Butterfield passed away at the Olean General Hospital Friday afternoon, Oct. 2, 1953 after an illness of a short duration.
Mr. Butterfield was born Dec. 25, 1866 in New York City. He lived on the Eleven Mile about 70 years. In late years he lived in New York and four years in Red Hook, N.Y., coming back to his home on Eleven Mile in March of this year.
He was engaged as a cheese maker for about 15 years, prior to his retirement in 1933. Prior to his cheese making work, he owned and operated a sawmill on the Eleven Mile.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. John VanBuren, Shinglehouse; one nephew, Richard VanBuren, Red Hook, N.Y. Funeral services were held at the Ohrystal E. U. B. Church, Monday at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Paul Whitcomb officiating .
Burial was made in the Chrystal Cemetery..
