Fred W. Eckert of Coudersport died of a heart attack at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, Thursday morning (Feb. 18, 1971) where he had gone for a physical checkup.
Mr. Eckert had recently retired as owner of Rainbow Paradise on Rt. 6, which he had developed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Marys, St. Vincent's Women's Auxiliary, the Grange, and of St. Eulalia Church, Coudersport.
He was born in St. Marys, Jan. 18, 1903, a son of John J. and Rose Glass Eckert, In St. Marys, April 6, 1926, he married the former Sara Wolfe, who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mary Krug of St. Marys, Mrs. Esther Keller and Mrs. Virginia Murphy, both of Ridgway, Mrs. Faith A. Kelly of Coudersport and Mrs. Victoria Duncan of Leadvitle, Colo.; eight sons, AJphonse A. Eckert of St. Marys, Jerome J. Eckert of Galeton, Michael R. Eckert of Conneaut Lake, Peter A. Eckert of Austin, Patrick F. Eckert of Ridgway and Arthur B. Eckert. Raphael G. Eckert and Ronald J. Eckert, all of Coudersport; 61 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild;
six sisters, Mrs. Loretta Wolfe. Mrs. Henrietta Diebel. Mrs. Mary Bobenreith, Mrs. Emma Rose Distler, Mrs. , Florence Caskey and Mrs. Frances Fye, all of St. Marys;
five brothers, Phillip P. Eckert and Raymond Eckert, both of Buffalo and Herbert Eckert. Vincent A. Eckert and Allie J. Eckert, all of St. Marys.
Friends called at Joseph VV. Lynch Funeral Home, St. Marys, on Saturday. The Rosary was recited in Lin-dhome Funeral Home, Coudersport, on Sunday. A Mass of the Resurrection was held Monday in St. Eulalia Giurch, Coudersport. Burial followed in St. Eulalia Cemetery.
