Front row: Big brother Joe Jennings Howes, we called him Jen. Joe Jen served more than 20 yrs. in the US Navy, was called Joe in the Navy. Deceased now.
Sister Frances w/puppy and me (Charlotte) looking up toward the porch.
Oldest and protective, sister Betty Jane Howes behind me, she's the tallest, has her right arm around the Chafin girl. (Betty is deceased).
The 2 girls in back are Maudie and Georgia Chafin. Betty Jane told me this was Christian, Island Creek WV. My dad, Jennings Harvey Howes is the grandson of Wm.Anderson "devil anse" Hatfield. See less

I think I'm around one year old.... Notice the photo of daddy about age 1.. with his brother Lindsey titled on WV archives as grandchildren of Wm.Anderson "devil anse" grandchildren. Also in many books. I see a resemblance with daddy (Jennings Harvey Howes) at this age also. He's wearing a little dress as toddler boys did back then, he's with older brother Lindsey.

No. Elizabeth JacksonThat's my brother Joe Jennings Howes in this photo. We called him Jen (short for Jennings) but he went by first name in the Navy. Back row: Maudie and Georgia Chafin with my oldest sister Betty Jane Howes. Frances is in front, holding puppy. I'm looking up toward the porch. This was taken in 1939.... Daddy, Harvey would have been 29 b. 1910. His brother Joe would have been 24 b. 1915.

I really like this picture! It just looks like real art to me. The buckets , the building the porch all the kids. The way its centered.

Thanks Oma. I think it's really cute too. I love looking at this .. of when we were all so young. It's funny how kids keep most of their looks and personalities from babies.
