Capacity Audiences Marking Christmas in Local Churches
Several Coudersport churches presented their annual Christmas programs Sunday night before capacity audiences in every instance.
At St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the entire Sunday School took part In the Christmas story in song, entitled, "What Can I Give Him?" Miss Donna Lehman was narrator and Mrs. Earl Brown played the organ. The program was under the direction of Mrs. Edward Simons, assisted by Mrs. Robert McNary.
Following the program, a buffet lunCh was served a3 a surprise farewell resture to the Rev. James F. Qook, pastor of the church, who will Have on Jan. 1 for a new pastorate in Homer City, Pa.' "He was presented with a gift from the congregation. (The children received Christmas treats mid gifts.
The program at Park Methodist Church included a play, "Christmas in Deed." The cast included

Thomas Maynard.
The play was directed by Miss Miriam Park. She was assisted by Bruce Parisella.
The junior department under the direction of Mrs. John W. Mahaley, gave recitations and sang.
The program closed with a candlelight, service presented by members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship group. Taking part was

The Rev. Benton S. Swartz, pastor of the church, gave the invocation. The beginners and primary departments had a party at the church Saturday afternoon from 2:00 o'clock until 4:00.
Two movies, "Christina's Rapsody'' and "The Night Before Christmas" and a cartoon furnished the afternoon's entertainment until Santa Klaus appeared and distributed gifts from under the decorated tree to the approximately 50 youngsters present.
Refreshments were served by the teachers. Mrs. William Roberts is head of the beginners department and Mrs. Warren Parker heads the primary department.
"Out of the Ivory Palaces" was tiie play given at the evening service a the Christian Missionary Alliance Church with the young people of the church participating. Supporting Vocal music was supplied by the junior choir in the six to 12 age group. Piano accompanists were Joyce Burchell aind Lorraine Furman. Mrs. Grace Furman directed the play.
During an intermission, the junior fiang "Merry Bells" and the Glee Club song, "He Came." The Rev. iloy Hj. Burchell, pastor of the cliurch, ''directed the singing groups and Mrs. Helen Jones accompanied tiiem on the piano.
The little children of the primary department presented a short program of songs and recitations.
A patty for the Sunday School children will be held at the church following caroling Thursday night.
The first part of the Presbyterian church program was taken over by children of the nursery beginners, and primary departments. They gave recitations and sang several songs. Mrs. Loren Vosburg and Mrs. Howard Haskins had charge, assisted by teachers in the departments,
Mrs. George Mitchell gave a reading, "The Poinsetta."
Mrs. William D. Fish Jr., played a Attend Programs in Local Churches violin solo, "Ave Maria," accompanied by Miss Jane Lois Todd, as introduction music for a pageant, "The Old, Old Story."
Adult members of the church took leading rolls with the choir and male chorus supplying the music. Costumed children of all nations in the pageant were played by young people in the junior department of the Sunday School.

The pageant was directed by Mrs. Laurent Johnston; the choir and the chorus by Mr. Albert G. Reese. William Brocklebank was organist.
The Rev. Dr. Chester W. Todd, minister, gave the invocation and introduced the program. A party for the entire Sunday School and the cradle roll and mothers was held Saturday afternoon at the church with about 100 in attendance.
Tom Shear entertained the group with a "chalk talk." Gifts and treats were distributed and refreshments were served. The party was from two until four o'clock.
Christmas party for the Sunday School children of St. Eulalia's Room Catholic Church was held Sunday afternoon in the hose rooms starting at two o'clock. Mrs. Domaleski showing moving pictures and gifts were distributed. Each guest also received a candy cane.
Refreshments: were served. Court Doyle, Catholic Daughters of America was hostes.

Calls will be taken up to 5:00 p. m., Santa's secretary said. An annual event for several years, the Christmas Eve visit of the gentleman from the North Pole country is becoming a tradition here. So much so that on occasion Santa has had to call for assistants to help make the rounds. ' Said a bulletin from the Amalgamated Press, quoting Santa Claus: "See all those good children in Coudersport, Pa. Christmas Eve that is, if they want me. : "Hope they collect in as few homes as possible will enable to greet more of them. My number down the,re. is 260.". Bucknell University Man to Direct District Chorus The assistant director of music education at Bucknell University, Lewi burg, Pa , Allen W. Flock, will be guest conductor of the North Central District Chorus here on January 14, 15 and 16.
