Ex-Sheriff Succumbs In Port Allegany Community Hospital.
Harold C. Holcomb, 69, sheriff of Potter County for a quarter century, died Tuesday afternoon, July 25, 1967, in Port Allegany Community Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Mr. Holcomb was first elected to the office of sheriff in 1948 and served in that caoacity and as a

probation officer until 1964 when he decided not to run for re-election. Prior to this time he operated a dairy farm for 25 years at his home in Coudersport R.D.
Born April 23, 1898 in Sweden Township, Coudersport, R.D., . he was a son of Verdette and Laura Glover Holcomb. He was married Oct. 5, 1932 at Hornell, N. Y. to the former Nira Ayers.
Mr. Holcomb was a member of Eulalia Lodge No. 342, F&AM and of Eulalia Lodge No. 815, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife and eight children,
- Richard Holcomb, Ladona;
- William Holcomb, Ulysses;
- Wayne Holcomb, Williams-port;
- Miss Laura Holcomb and
- Miss Sally Holcomb, Coudersport, R.D.;
- Mrs. Diana Mauregare, Santa Rosa, Calif.;
- Mrs. Hazel Jewell, Cummings, Calif.; and
- Mrs. Betty DeStevens, Bradford.
Also two sisters,
- Mrs. Ireva Simar, Port Allegany;
- Mrs. Florence Pratt, Torrance, Calif.,
and 17 grandchildren.
Friends will be received after 7:00 p.m. tonight at the Lindhome Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Coudersport, with the Rev. Burton Wilkins officiating.
- Interment will be in Eulalia Cemetery.
