Columbus Wetzel
Columbus Wetzel, 70, an attorney who established a law office in Sunnyslope in 1958 and retired in 1969, died Tuesday in his home at 41 W. Virginia.
Mr. Wetzel was a member of the State Bar of Arizona, American Bar Association and had practiced in Clarksburg, W. Va., before moving to Phoenix 14 years ago.
He was graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law, had been an acting judge for the circuit court, president of the H a r r i s o n County Bar Association and was a divorce commissioner all in West Virginia.
Mr. Wetzel was a descendant of the parents of Lewis Wetzel, a border scout in the late 1700s in northwestern Virginia. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of the Shrine.
He was born in Mount Clare, W. Va. Survivors include
his wife, Ruth;
two sons,
- Army Lt. Col. Robert L. Wetzel of Alex andria, Va., and
- John W. of Katonah. N.Y.;
a brother of Clarksburg, and
six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Hansen Mortuary. 8314 N. Seventh St. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
