She traveled with 3 small children to Philadelphia to find a Dr. who could cure her sickly child, Maggie. They stayed 3 months, thought her no better, returned to Scotland, where they realized she was much better. Donaldsons decided to move to Washington state in US.
Annie Jane bore 7 children, four who survived to adulthood, one who died a few months after she did.
She and her children basically built and operated their farm on the Queets river, with help from neighbors and later, her parents and brother-in-law, Bill Donaldson.
