• Molly Bugg Ellis Becomes Bride of James L. Elliott
Marriage of Henderson, N. Carolina Girl and Coudersport Lumberman Takes Place in Catholic Church - James White Best Man.
In a formal ceremony at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Henderson on Friday evening, August 23, at 8:30 o'clock, Miss Molly Bugg Ellis, daughter of Mrs. Charles Earl Ellis and the late Mr. Ellis, of Henderson, became the bride of James Leonard Elliott, of Coudersport, Pa., formerly of Corning, N. Y., son of Mrs. L. B. Elliott and the late Dr. Elliott, of Coudersport. Rev. James K. King officiated at the ring ceremony. The bride chose as her wedding date the twenty-lifth wedding anniversary of her mother.
The vows were spoken before an altar banked with cybotium ferns and pedestal baskets of white gladioli, white astors and eupharbla were arranged on each side of the altar. The altar rails were effectively entwined with sprays of plumosa fern and clematis.
Prior to the ceremony Allison Douglas Allison sang "Ave Maria" by Bach-Gounod accompanied by Mrs. Alwyn P. Barnes at the organ console. Mrs. Barnes used Mendelsohn's wedding march as the processional Lohengrin's march for the recessional of the wedding party.
The bride, who was escorted and given in marriage by her brother, Robert P. Jones, wore a gown of ivory duchess satin fashioned with princess bodice and high round yoke of ninon marquisette outlined with a satin embroidered in bow knot designs of seed pearls and opalescent beads forming a drop shoulder effect. The dress was fastened in the back with tiny satin covered buttons and long sleeves ended in points over the hands, fitting tightly about the wrists. The full skirt extended from a long torso waistline terminating in a circular cathedral train and her full two-tiered veil of misty French illusion was caught to a halo of pearlized orange blossoms. The bride carried a bouquet of bride's roses and white astors centered with a white, purple-throated orchid, showered with French Maline and white satin.
Miss Mary Sue Edmondson of Baskerville and Richmond, Va., attended her cousin as maid of honor. She was dressed in pink marquisette, styled over pink taffeta and designed with off the shoulder neckline and a short cape edged with ruching that came to a point in front with a soft bow of self material. The full gathered skirt was attached to a molded bodice.
Miss Lucille White and Mrs. Hal Bissett, both of Henderson, were bridesmaids and they wore dresses headdresses and mittens identical ot that of the maid of honor. They carried colonial bouquets of mixed summer flowers tied with dubonnet ribbons.
James White of Coudersport was best man and usher-groomsmen were Jack Sanders, of Henderson and Nelson Kelsey of Staten Island, N. Y.
Mrs. Ellis, mother of the bride, was attired in a dinner of slate blue crepe with pink feather hat, long white gloves and a purple orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Elliott, wore a gold embroidered peacock blue crepe dress with a feather hat, long white gloves and an orchid corsage.
Immediately following the ceremony the mother of the bride entertained at the West End Country Club at a reception honoring the bridal couple.
The bride and groom left immediately after the reception for an unannounced destination.
Mrs. Elliott, attractive and popular member of the young set in Henderson, was graduated from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina and for one year was a member of the faculty of the Wilmington city schools and for the past few months has been employed in the office of the Henderson Cotton Mills.
Mr. Elliott was educated at St. Patrick's school in Corning, N.Y., the Corning Free Academy and St. Bonaventure College in Allegany N. Y. He served over three and a half years in the Army of the United States with eighteen months being overseas duty in the Azores and in Newfoundland. He was released as a warrant officer from the Army Air Forces Reserve Boat Division.
They will make their home in Coudersport, where the groom is in the lumber business following the business of his grandfather, who was pioneer in Pennsylvania lumbering.

Rural Carriers Picnic at Cherry Springs
Potter-McKean Letter Carriers' Association and Ladies' Auxiliary met at Cherry Springs Sunday. A picnic lunch was served including cake in honor of the birthday of Vice President Willis Potter of Coudersport.
President and Mrs. James Carlson, Turtle Point, were presented with a gift in honor of their wedding anniversary.
Skeet shooting, rifle target practice, croquet, softball and horse shoes were enjoyed through the afternoon..
